To amend title 38, United States Code, to revise the definition of the 
   term ``Vietnam era'' to provide eligibility for certain veterans 
  benefits that are based on service during the Vietnam era, without 
     regard to whether such service was in the Republic of Vietnam.

To amend title 38, United States Code, to revise the definition of the 
   term ``Vietnam era'' to provide eligibility for certain veterans 
  benefits that are based on service during the Vietnam era, without 
     regard to whether such service was in the Republic of Vietnam.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. REVISION TO DEFINITION OF VIETNAM ERA.

    Paragraph (29) of section 101 of title 38, United States Code, is 
amended to read as follows:
    ``(29) The term `Vietnam era' means the period beginning on 
February 28, 1961, and ending on May 7, 1975.''.
