   ACCESS TO HOSPITALS AND OTHER HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS IN RURAL AREAS

  Mr. REID. I ask unanimous consent that the Senate proceed to the 
consideration of S. Res. 588, submitted earlier today.
  The PRESIDING OFFICER. The clerk will report the resolution by title.
  The legislative clerk read as follows:

       A resolution (S. Res. 588) recognizing that access to 
     hospitals and other health care providers for patients in 
     rural areas of the United States is essential to the survival 
     and success of communities in the United States.

  There being no objection, the Senate proceeded to consider the 
resolution.
  Mr. REID. I ask unanimous consent that the resolution be agreed to, 
the preamble be agreed to, and the motions to reconsider be laid upon 
the table with no intervening action or debate.
