 <section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Treatment of Certain Payments in Eugenics Compensation Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id1ABF919EEF1947A3B96CEB28A8543702" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Exclusion of payments from State eugenics compensation programs from consideration in  determining
			 eligibility for, or the amount of, Federal public benefits</header>
 <subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id4F3DF4CDE5194246B698E49C699D8A3D"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Notwithstanding any other provision of law, payments made under a State eugenics compensation program shall not be considered as income or resources in determining eligibility for, or the amount of, any Federal public benefit.</text>
 </subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idD1ED145516A44738AEAA6DB5AA543402"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For purposes of this section:</text> <paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id0A7A0891EB7C465FAD02D6183E3F194B"><enum>(1)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Federal public benefit</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>Federal public benefit</term> means—</text>
 <subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID249BBC00B86D47A0865E1F3C3BA3BF06"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">any grant, contract, loan, professional license, or commercial license provided by an agency of the United States or by appropriated funds of the United States; and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ID142947A005EA43AD9F8A30341AB5934F"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">any retirement, welfare, health, disability, public or assisted housing, postsecondary education, food assistance, unemployment benefit, or any other similar benefit for which payments or assistance are provided to an individual, household, or family eligibility unit by an agency of the United States or by appropriated funds of the United States.</text>
 </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id44341634BC6744B1BA981C9B3E6A5CD5"><enum>(2)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">State eugenics compensation program</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>State eugenics compensation program</term> means a program established by State law that is intended to compensate individuals who were sterilized under the authority of the State.</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body><attestation><attestation-group><attestation-date chamber="Senate" date="20151130">Passed the Senate November 30, 2015.</attestation-date><attestor display="yes">Julie E.
