			 provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Violence Against Women Act of 1994 to include sex trafficking victims in the
			 transitional housing assistance grant program, and for other purposes.</official-title></form>
	<legis-body id="H43B0C8CAE6CB472B8D870DDEDE668994" style="OLC">
 <section id="H741442CBFA584B71B8E1C69DC972C5B7" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short Title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Housing for Survivors of Sex Trafficking Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="H9278959509E34A3A88B253DA4E411667"><enum>2.</enum><header>Inclusion of Sex Trafficking Victims in Transitional Housing Grant Programs</header> <subsection id="HE416260D577C4A6E93D8CAC488AAE374"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In General</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 40299 of the Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/34/12351">34 U.S.C. 12351</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
 <paragraph id="H33F9F822896E47E1BC715113229AFE97"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (a)—</text> <subparagraph id="H6AC44585CE1641FBA4C3A3FCCCD1948A"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in the matter preceding paragraph (1)—</text>
 <clause commented="no" id="H554441F5727448E89574425238E3F38B"><enum>(i)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>, sex trafficking,</quote> after <quote>and other organizations, including domestic violence</quote>;</text> </clause><clause commented="no" id="H0995CD3935A34640BD43971A7363BE56"><enum>(ii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by inserting <quote>, sex trafficking,</quote> after <quote>providers, domestic violence</quote>; and</text>
 </clause><clause id="H1A77DF1DA1C144D98799CC6FEFEFB2BB"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>sex trafficking,</quote> after <quote>dating violence, sexual assault,</quote>; and</text> </clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HCA837FD3582842D19C69127E34C1A4E8"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in paragraph (1), by inserting <quote>sex trafficking,</quote> after <quote>sexual assault,</quote>;</text>
 </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" id="H2C684BF469FB4EB6BF0CEF70CD54817E"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection (b)(3)—</text> <subparagraph id="HAA0E9E7BEFF045928095815CBC1C8230"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by inserting <quote>sex trafficking,</quote> after <quote>sexual assault,</quote>; and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H9B1617A067304CA8AEF5A5791EE1A31C"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subparagraph (C), by inserting <quote>, except as provided in subsection (e)</quote> after <quote>shall be voluntary</quote>;</text> </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HF3F6687DF645465298D62BE0447A3197"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in subsection (d)(2)(B), by inserting <quote>, except as provided in subsection (e)</quote> after <quote>the victim’s housing</quote>;</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H9A186690F1BD4D75954DECF5D3A88E2F"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by redesignating subsections (e), (f) and (g) as subsections (f), (g) and (h), respectively;</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="H2835C3C66CAE4FCAB6A1CFA99E28B0D0"><enum>(5)</enum><text>by inserting after subsection (d) the following:</text>

 <subsection id="HE3E54C91F6EB4785B8079DE116EF9465"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Exceptions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A grant recipient under this section may condition the receipt of benefits or the provision of housing on a program participant’s participation in certain programs, including counseling and evaluations, that are necessary to ensure the accurate placement of the victim in the program, provided that any communication provided in the course of such counseling or evaluation remains confidential.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>;</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H47A793909229455FB5FCEA8ECA34900D"><enum>(6)</enum><text>in subsection (g)(1), as so redesignated, by striking <quote>under subsection (e)</quote> and inserting <quote>under subsection (f)</quote>; and</text> </paragraph><paragraph commented="no" id="H1EFC494AD31F42339AB2AF38A49EF920"><enum>(7)</enum><text>in subsection (g)(3)(D)(iii), by inserting <quote>sex trafficking,</quote> after <quote>sexual assault,</quote>.</text>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HD7E9A8AFCEB0435BAB3BD89DB15CF73B"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Clerical Amendment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The heading for section 40299 of the Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/34/12351">34 U.S.C. 12351</external-xref>) is amended by inserting <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="OLC">sex trafficking,</header-in-text></quote> after <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="OLC">sexual assault,</header-in-text></quote>.</text>
