<congress display="no">115th CONGRESS</congress><session display="no">2d Session</session><legis-num display="no">H.R. 770</legis-num><current-chamber display="yes">In the Senate of the United States,</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20180620">June 20, 2018.</action-date></action><legis-type display="yes">Amendment:</legis-type></engrossed-amendment-form><engrossed-amendment-body><section id="id5d34ed39538347e5b69b73fd1030448f" section-type="resolved"><text>That the bill from the House of Representatives (H.R. 770) entitled <quote>An Act to require the Secretary of the Treasury to mint coins in recognition of American innovation and significant innovation and pioneering efforts of individuals or groups from each of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, and the United States territories, to promote the importance of innovation in the United States, the District of Columbia, and the United States territories, and for other purposes.</quote>, do pass with the following</text></section><amendment><amendment-instruction blank-lines-after="0"><text>Beginning on page 6, strike line 8 and all that follows through page 8, line 5, and insert the following:</text></amendment-instruction><amendment-block blank-lines-after="1" changed="added" reported-display-style="italic"><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id675CA32657AE47B2BEB737D3B93D8DCA" style="OLC"><?LEXA-PartialQB?><subparagraph id="H1678978F9C4C401EA12D9EF25FCA2FE4"><enum>(A)</enum><header>Order of issuance</header><clause id="id9C67CA950E834639A78AC8636726E65C"><enum>(i)</enum><header>In general</header><text>The coins issued under this subsection commemorating either an innovation, an individual innovator, or a group of innovators, from each State, the District of Columbia, or a territory shall be issued in the following order:</text><subclause id="id7870c99a82e4411da587e4e509e112c4"><enum>(I)</enum><header>State</header><text>With respect to each State, the coins shall be issued in the order in which the States ratified the Constitution of the United States or were admitted into the Union, as the case may be.</text></subclause><subclause id="id6832179461f24fccae210b871657777d"><enum>(II)</enum><header>District of columbia and territories</header><text>After all coins are issued under subclause (I), the coins shall be issued for the District of Columbia and the territories in the following order: the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the United States Virgin Islands, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.</text></subclause></clause><clause commented="no" id="H1120F1D426864881A5076673852869F2"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Application in event of the admission of additional States</header><text>Notwithstanding clause (i), if any additional State is admitted into the Union before the end of the 14-year period referred to in paragraph (1), the Secretary of the Treasury may issue a $1 coin with respect to the additional State in accordance with clause (i)(I).</text></clause><clause id="HB23BFCE23D4747519DE21209DFF6B605"><enum>(iii)</enum><header>Application in the event of independence or adding of a territory</header><text>Notwithstanding clause (i)—</text><subclause id="idADF4EC4FCEF940859B6B7E262B99018A"><enum>(I)</enum><text>if any territory becomes independent or otherwise ceases to be a territory of the United States before $1 coins are minted pursuant to this subsection, the subsection shall cease to apply with respect to such territory; and</text></subclause><subclause id="id6CEA6DF42BF542B8932D6B6F6C62ECB3"><enum>(II)</enum><text>if any new territory is added to the United States, $1 coins shall be issued for such territories in the order in which the new the territories are added, beginning after the $1 coin is issued for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.</text></subclause></clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HFA33E7474E954CB4BE50BF6DD1BA5392"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Issuance of coins commemorating four innovations or innovators during each of 14 years</header><clause id="H1C3DB451284F41C2A06B2976746AC13F"><enum>(i)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Four $1 coin designs as described in this subsection shall be issued during each year of the period referred to in paragraph (1) until 1 coin featuring 1 innovation, an individual innovator, or a group of innovators, from each of the States, the District of Columbia, and territories has been issued.</text></clause><clause id="HADEBD3BD1A8841CFB1154912BCFC2FBB"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Number of coins of each design</header><text>The Secretary shall prescribe, on the basis of such factors as the Secretary determines to be appropriate, the number of $1 coins that shall be issued with each of the designs selected for each year of the period referred to in paragraph (1).</text></clause></subparagraph></quoted-block></amendment-block></amendment></engrossed-amendment-body><attestation><attestation-group><attestor></attestor><role>Secretary</role></attestation-group></attestation><endorsement></endorsement></amendment-doc>
