			 commercial driver’s licenses.</official-title></form>
	<legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="HC971C1E475584D84806A223659F1AD17" style="OLC">
 <section id="HC09804EBB2DB40A69ABFE0182F8A11CC" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Jobs for Our Heroes Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="id686F412050B44A1C94CD3215978E5B79" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Medical certificate for veterans operating commercial motor vehicles</header> <subsection id="H8D95372A548F4A9FB1A392AC226F4FC0"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Qualified examiners</header><text>Section 5403(d)(2) of the FAST Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/49/31149">49 U.S.C. 31149</external-xref> note; 129 Stat. 1548) is amended to read as follows:</text>
				<quoted-block id="HA76B33E4D2C84B7F86D98CE603F9090A" style="OLC">
 <paragraph id="H242F72DC10664D9E95922305D1A07A6D"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Qualified examiner</header><text>The term <term>qualified examiner</term> means an individual who—</text> <subparagraph id="HB08E815136494956888B558EFB2D31B5"><enum>(A)</enum><text>is employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs as an advanced practice nurse, doctor of chiropractic, doctor of medicine, doctor of osteopathy, physician assistant, or other medical professional;</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H4D025F963C1849A093BD663B1AD66D28"><enum>(B)</enum><text>is licensed, certified, or registered in a State to perform physical examinations;</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H303AC93D463D4CAD99CBD96F4F3B920A"><enum>(C)</enum><text>is familiar with the standards for, and physical requirements of, an operator required to be medically certified under section 31149 of title 49, United States Code; and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H34373C865EF74824B90A6A9E2C4C1D9D"><enum>(D)</enum><text>has never, with respect to such section, been found to have acted fraudulently, including by fraudulently awarding a medical certificate.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </subsection><subsection id="HFEA9741025AE4B4DABC1B6B561383C51"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming amendments</header><text>Section 5403 of the FAST Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/49/31149">49 U.S.C. 31149</external-xref> note; 129 Stat. 1548) is amended—</text> <paragraph id="H0890CDC2CDF3464D9E1FF9296F62F661"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (a), by striking <quote>physician-approved veteran operator, the qualified physician</quote> and inserting <quote>veteran operator approved by a qualified examiner, the qualified examiner</quote>;</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H68E6F243EEF0430CA0A9908EB65BA934"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection (b)(1)—</text> <subparagraph id="HC3B82CDC566D4132986BDD036454AB9A"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by striking <quote>the physician</quote> and inserting <quote>the examiner</quote>; and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H1ACB025F1A3F4BA6BEAC9496C8B7B7B9"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by striking <quote>qualified physician</quote> and inserting <quote>qualified examiner</quote>;</text> </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H9BA6B55D63434116A738C55739A8386D"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in subsection (c)—</text>
 <subparagraph id="H30364471D549415997F3204ECBBBC4CB"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by striking <quote>qualified physicians</quote> and inserting <quote>qualified examiners</quote>; and</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H96AA72DB4FC0424CA58C2C6F962DF53A"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by striking <quote>such physicians</quote> and inserting <quote>such examiners</quote>; and</text>
 </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H91507916BE2941BBBF1D7CBB07752F1C"><enum>(4)</enum><text>in subsection (d)—</text> <subparagraph id="idAB5834C693F74C768933EE1D64928575"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by redesignating paragraphs (1), (2), and (3) as paragraphs (3), (1), and (2), respectively, and by moving the text of paragraph (3), as redesignated, to appear after paragraph (2), as redesignated; and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="id02D34F2C26E747E794D8ED0B00ADBD23"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in paragraph (3), as redesignated—</text> <clause id="HDE436B93652C45FC925B53CF9D2CB749"><enum>(i)</enum><text>in the paragraph heading, by striking <quote><header-in-text level="paragraph" style="OLC">Physician-approved veteran operator</header-in-text></quote> and inserting <quote><header-in-text level="paragraph" style="OLC">Veteran operator approved by a qualified examiner</header-in-text></quote>; and</text>
 </clause><clause id="H33127331056B475AB57923AA1A6ECDCE"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>by striking <quote>physician-approved veteran operator</quote> and inserting <quote>veteran operator approved by a qualified examiner</quote>.</text> </clause></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HEA3EDE88778E450296707FDDC0D2FDC3"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Rulemaking</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by this section shall be incorporated into any rulemaking proceeding related to section 5403 of the FAST Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/49/31149">49 U.S.C. 31149</external-xref> note; 129 Stat. 1548) that is being conducted as of the date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
 </subsection></section><section id="HD8468CCA9BA942CDA5C3982D07F13B07"><enum>3.</enum><header>Commercial driver’s license standards for current and former members of the Armed Forces</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 31305(d) of title 49, United States Code, is amended—</text> <paragraph id="H176A7C8F57C74E86AB01711848D88D9A"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the subsection heading, by striking <quote><header-in-text level="subsection" style="OLC">veteran operators</header-in-text></quote> and inserting <quote><header-in-text level="subsection" style="OLC">operators who are members of the armed forces, reservists, or veterans</header-in-text></quote>;</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="id8E42D01DC121410896E47D7A59AD2363"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (1)(B), by striking <quote>subparagraph (A) during, at least,</quote> and inserting “subparagraph (A)—</text> <quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id7609BC5080D543CC8D554BAD7C55DD01" style="OLC"> <clause id="id77A0C2A76AFD470799B338E4E33811D0"><enum>(i)</enum><text>while serving in the armed forces or reserve components; and</text>
 </clause><clause id="id2ED9D18186344E89B25396E1BE9DAE9A"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>during</text></clause><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </paragraph><paragraph id="H8B33773ED24C4FDFA2E911A1E2307AF9"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in paragraph (2)(B)—</text>
 <subparagraph id="idBFD23F10D5BD486AAECB62B57C5FE439"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>current or</quote> before <quote>former</quote> each place the term appears; and</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id9D408B8D03784C0FAF7936C2ED200CC7"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>one of</quote> before <quote>the reserve components</quote>.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></section></legis-body><endorsement><action-date>August 3, 2017</action-date><action-desc>Reported without amendment</action-desc></endorsement></bill>
