			 Health of the Department of Veterans Affairs the position of Chief
			 Information Officer of
			 the Veterans Health Administration, and for other purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header>
 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Department of Veterans Affairs Information Technology Restructuring Act of 2017</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="id37A37A2018B6494D8E677A1F7014C6AA"><enum>2.</enum><header>Establishment of position of Chief Information Officer of Veterans Health Administration</header>
 <subsection id="idEC371DE14B384929B338CCD1A6407055"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Section 7306(a) of title 38, United States Code, is amended—</text> <paragraph id="idF92CC16647B94AE682A9DFF5C24A07A5"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating paragraph (10) as paragraph (11); and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="id1EC0031D37F4481ABA82F4EAC22F0F9D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after paragraph (9) the following new paragraph (10):</text> <quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idA13602065CAC40E08CDEB998EDF066D9" style="OLC"> <paragraph id="idD99B50759EF1426AA74C6FB6271C31E5"><enum>(10)</enum><text>The Chief Information Officer of the Veterans Health Administration, who shall—</text>
 <subparagraph id="id42d01662fbee4825bbfe66f7088c3c4b"><enum>(A)</enum><text>serve in a full-time capacity at the Central Office of the Department; and</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="id562ACC6C8EFD43558D7A956833A34B7C"><enum>(B)</enum><text>be responsible to, and report directly to, the Under Secretary for Health on all matters regarding the procurement, acquisition, and management of information technology systems and services for the Veterans Health Administration.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idEC71589981114805AD8D18DA519BAAC6"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Initial appointment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall appoint an individual to serve as the Chief Information Officer of the Veterans Health Administration under section 7306(a)(10) of title 38, United States Code, as amended by subsection (a).</text>
