 <section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>National Memorial to Fallen Educators Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
 </section><section changed="deleted" committee-id="SSEG00" id="id6c5d473d20e44ba7a5384fc8c4d94298" reported-display-style="strikethrough"><enum>2.</enum><header>Findings</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Congress finds that—</text> <paragraph id="id515c4927fcc84eab8620065ae31fd7e4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>from 1764 to the date of enactment of this Act, more than 119 educators from 36 States have lost their lives in the United States while performing professional duties;</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="id4ac98cc6935a40d282071d2af758c327"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the United States lacks a national memorial dedicated to fallen educators; and</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="idac07121684db48dd86055d313a3acf47"><enum>(3)</enum><text>a memorial to fallen educators at the National Teachers Hall of Fame in Emporia, Kansas—</text>
 <subparagraph id="id88b2822541a8404dad3111efd9de1bef"><enum>(A)</enum><text>was dedicated on June 12, 2014; and</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="id2fdd8f206e52474bbf768d5ec5acc3a3"><enum>(B)</enum><text>will honor educators who have lost their lives in the line of professional service.</text>

 <subsection changed="not-changed" id="id8597121a339742c8b1e6f2c31093fc33"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In General</header><text>The memorial to fallen educators located at the National Teachers Hall of Fame in Emporia, Kansas, is designated as the <quote>National Memorial to Fallen Educators</quote>.</text>
 </subsection><subsection changed="not-changed" id="id9447232b7b334c138d751d75bee2ed70"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effect of Designation</header><text>The national memorial designated by this section is not a unit of the National Park System and the designation of the National Memorial to Fallen Educators shall not require or permit Federal funds to be expended for any purpose related to that national memorial.</text></subsection></section></legis-body><endorsement><action-date>June 8, 2017</action-date><action-desc>Reported with an amendment</action-desc></endorsement></bill>
