			 Veterans Affairs, and for other purposes.</official-title></form>
	<legis-body id="HFAC34E1FC2E54E35BE4115471116CF23" style="OLC">
 <section id="HCC0AE7C3E3634E4AB9353D4A15CFE3BD" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>VA Provider Equity Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="HA3A254A012BA458E89A1D371DD897F10" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Role of podiatrists in Department of Veterans Affairs</header> <subsection commented="no" id="HF3C7FEA55B3146B28B91FD15CA0DB231"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Inclusion as physician</header> <paragraph id="H7DCD8AD7F08249D7B5E924B9A69C3521"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subchapter I of <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/38/74">chapter 74</external-xref> of title 38, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB8BC83E63B2A498B919DCC0908440590" style="USC">
						<section id="H91D57FEA19C543118144937CBDE67AB0"><enum>7413.</enum><header>Treatment of podiatrists; clinical oversight standards</header>
 <subsection id="HD66C02AC7E1C4A65B66AA549AC812FF2"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Podiatrists</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Except as provided by subsection (b), a doctor of podiatric medicine who is appointed as a podiatrist under section 7401(1) of this title is eligible for any supervisory position in the Veterans Health Administration to the same degree that a physician appointed under such section is eligible for the position.</text>
 </subsection><subsection id="HF5279CC0C0614D9FA9F6138B90511EE8"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Establishment of clinical oversight standards</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary, in consultation with appropriate stakeholders, shall establish standards to ensure that specialists appointed in the Veterans Health Administration to supervisory positions do not provide direct clinical oversight for purposes of peer review or practice evaluation for providers of other clinical specialties.</text></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HD171465E8D0741F89DF2E58414B8F915"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Clerical amendment</header><text>The table of sections at the beginning of chapter 74 of such title is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 7412 the following new item:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H8BD81F1DAF784650ACB07A49E0FACA13" style="USC"><toc regeneration="no-regeneration"><toc-entry level="section">7413. Treatment of podiatrists; clinical oversight standards.</toc-entry></toc><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H6FAFE33B54E146729A8198AE15231C71"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Modification and clarification of pay grade</header>
 <paragraph id="H23601D1D6D9142D18F0AB8DF861B8773"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Grade</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The list in section 7404(b) of such title is amended—</text> <subparagraph id="H933BBBF34FE44D95A0E53D46FA1C603F"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by striking <quote>PHYSICIAN AND DENTIST SCHEDULE</quote> and inserting <quote>PHYSICIAN AND SURGEON (MD/DO), PO­DI­A­TRIC SURGEON (DPM), AND DENTIST AND ORAL SURGEON (DDS, DMD) SCHEDULE</quote>;</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HEE0A7FED792443E7A4F194E6BF596ED1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by striking, <quote>Physician grade</quote> and inserting <quote>Physician and surgeon grade</quote>; and</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H8698F346980E4B09AFFE36D8456C50BE"><enum>(C)</enum><text>by striking <quote>PODIATRIST, CHIROPRACTOR, AND</quote> and inserting <quote>CHIROPRACTOR AND</quote>.</text>
 </subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H60AA2261F2194ADC9D306F146E15BFBE"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Application</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by paragraph (1) shall apply with respect to a pay period of the Department of Veterans Affairs beginning on or after the date that is 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
