MEASURE READ THE FIRST TIME--H.R. 1112

Mr. McCONNELL. I understand that H.R. 1112 has been received from the
House and is at the desk, and I ask for its first reading.
The PRESIDING OFFICER. The clerk will read the title of the bill for
the first time.
The bill clerk read as follows:

       A bill (H.R. 1112) to amend chapter 44 of title 18, United
States Code, to strengthen the background check procedures to
be followed before a Federal firearms licensee may transfer a
firearm to a person who is not such a licensee.

Mr. McCONNELL. I now ask for its second reading and, in order to
place the bill on the calendar under the provisions of rule XIV, I
object to my own request.
The PRESIDING OFFICER. Objection is heard. The bill will receive a
second reading on the next legislative day.
