                        Wednesday, June 19, 2019

Mr. GALLAGHER. Madam Speaker, I rise today to recognize the tradition
of Sundae on the Farm in Calumet County hosted this year by Jenlar
Holsteins and Brown Swiss in Chilton.
Sundae on the Farm is an iconic Calumet County tradition that
provides the community an opportunity to see first-hand how a dairy
farm operates and learn about the significant role the dairy industry
plays in Wisconsin's economy. Community members meet dairy farmers,
explore the barns and equipment, and enjoy delicious cheese and ice
cream.
I am grateful to Jenlar Holsteins and Brown Swiss for hosting the
2019 Calumet County Sundae on the Farm. Andy and Joan Meyer started
their farm in 1970 with one calf. Today, three generations of the Meyer
Family farms and milks over 120 cows. The Meyers continuously strive to
improve their farm, utilizing innovative practices like sand bedding
and a robotic milking system to make the cows more comfortable. The
operation of the farm has changed over time, but the Meyer Family's
pride in their work remains strong.
The Calumet County Dairy Promotion Committee organizes Sundae on the
Farm by recruiting host farms, sponsors, and volunteers to support this
terrific event. To continue the promotion of agriculture throughout the
year, the Committee provides educational opportunities to communities
across Calumet County.
Madam Speaker, I urge all members of this body to join me in
commending the efforts of the Sundae on the Farm to educate the
community through this time-honored tradition. Thank you to the Meyers,
the Calumet County Dairy Promotion Committee, and the countless
sponsors and volunteers for their continued support of Wisconsin's
dairy industry.
