A BILL
To direct the Joint Committee on the Library to obtain a statue of
Harriet Tubman and to place the statue in National Statuary Hall in the
United States Capitol.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Honoring Harriet Tubman Act''.
SEC. 2. PLACEMENT OF STATUE OF HARRIET TUBMAN IN NATIONAL STATUARY
HALL.
(a) Obtaining Statue.--Not later than 2 years after the date of the
enactment of this Act, the Joint Committee on the Library shall enter
into an agreement to obtain a statue of Harriet Tubman, under such
terms and conditions as the Joint Committee considers appropriate
consistent with applicable law.
(b) Placement.--The Joint Committee shall place the statue obtained
under subsection (a) in the United States Capitol in a suitable
permanent location in National Statuary Hall.
SEC. 3. AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS.
(a) Authorization.--There are authorized to be appropriated such
sums as may be necessary to carry out this Act.
(b) Continuing Availability of Funds.--Any amounts appropriated
pursuant to the authorization under this section shall remain available
until expended.
