A BILL
To direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services, acting through
the Commissioner of Food and Drugs, to work through the Codex process
to review and update internationally recognized standards for infant
formula to ensure that such standards are consistent with the
requirements applicable to the importation of infant formula into the
United States.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Formula Act of 2022''.
SEC. 2. INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED STANDARDS FOR INFANT FORMULA.
(a) In General.--The Secretary of Health and Human Services, acting
through the Commissioner of Food and Drugs, shall work through the
Codex process to review and update internationally recognized standards
for infant formula to ensure that such standards are consistent with
the requirements applicable to the importation of infant formula into
the United States.
(b) Definition.--In this section, the term ``infant formula'' has
the meaning given to such term in section 201 of the Federal Food,
Drug, and Cosmetic Act (21 U.S.C. 321).
