R. 8034 To amend the Defense Production Act of 1950 to prohibit the use of certain authorities under that Act with respect to solar photovoltaic modules and module components, and for other purposes. _______________________________________________________________________ IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES June 13, 2022 Mr. Gibbs (for himself and Mr. Clyde) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Financial Services _______________________________________________________________________ A BILL To amend the Defense Production Act of 1950 to prohibit the use of certain authorities under that Act with respect to solar photovoltaic modules and module components, and for other purposes. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Preventing Investment in the Chinese Solar Economy Act''. SEC. 2. PROHIBITION ON THE USE OF AUTHORITIES FOR SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULES AND MODULE COMPONENTS. Section 104 of the Defense Production Act of 1950 (50 U.S.C. 4514) is amended by adding at the end the following: ``(c) Electric Vehicles and Related Technology.--The authorities provided under this title and title III may not be used with respect to solar photovoltaic modules and module components, including ingots, wafers, solar glass, and cells.''. SEC. 3. TERMINATION OF MEMORANDUM. The memorandum of the President titled ``Memorandum on Presidential Determination Pursuant to Section 303 of the Defense Production Act of 1950, as amended, on Solar Photovoltaic Modules and Module Components'' (published June 6, 2022) shall have no force or effect. <all>
