  To amend title 10, United States Code, to expand the period during 
   which days of service on active duty or of performance of active 
service reduce the age of eligibility for members of the Ready Reserve 
          for retired or retainer pay, and for other purposes.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. REDUCTION IN AGE OF ELIGIBILITY OF MEMBERS OF READY RESERVE 
              FOR RETIRED OR RETAINER PAY BASED ON CERTAIN SERVICE.

    (a) In General.--Section 12731(f)(2)(A) of title 10, United States 
Code, is amended--
            (1) by striking ``January 28, 2008, the eligibility'' and 
        inserting ``September 11, 2001, the eligibility'';
            (2) by striking ``in any fiscal year after January 28, 
        2008, or''; and
            (3) by striking ``September 30, 2014'' and inserting 
        ``September 11, 2001''.
    (b) Applicability.--The amendments made by subsection (a) shall 
apply to applications pending on or submitted on or after the date of 
the enactment of this Act.
