                                 A BILL


 
 To amend the Public Health Service Act to require a State receiving a 
block grant for prevention and treatment of substance use disorders to 
    describe the State's efforts to encourage and promote work and 
          employment to improve mental health and well-being.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Promote Work and Improve Health Act 
of 2022''.

SEC. 2. DESCRIPTION OF THE STATE EFFORTS TO PROMOTE WORK AND EMPLOYMENT 
              TO IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING.

    Section 1932(b)(1)(A) of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 
300x(b)(1)(A)) is amended--
            (1) in clause (viii), by striking ``and'' at the end;
            (2) in clause (ix), by striking the period at the end and 
        inserting ``; and''; and
            (3) by adding at the end the following:
                            ``(x) provides a description of the State's 
                        efforts to encourage and promote work and 
                        employment to improve mental health and well-
                        being.''.
