To amend the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 to provide for 
    the expiration of emergency temporary standards after 6 months.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. EXPIRATION OF EMERGENCY TEMPORARY STANDARDS.

    Section 6(c)(2) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 
(29 U.S.C. 655(c)(2)) is amended by inserting before the period at the 
end the following: ``, but in no case shall such emergency temporary 
standard remain in effect for a period exceeding 6 months''.
