Committee on House Administration, and in addition to the Committee on
Oversight and Reform, for a period to be subsequently determined by the
Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall
within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

A BILL
To amend the Legislative Reorganization Act of 1946 to tie the salaries
of Members of Congress to the salaries of the judiciary.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. TYING SALARIES OF MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO SALARIES OF
JUDICIARY.
(a) Revision of Salaries of Members.--Section 601(a) of the
Legislative Reorganization Act of 1946 (2 U.S.C. 4501) is amended to
read as follows:
``(a) The annual rate of pay for a Member of Congress shall be
determined as follows:
``(1) For the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the
annual rate of pay shall be equivalent to the greater of
$274,200 or the annual rate of pay for an associate justice of
the Supreme Court of the United States.
``(2) For the President pro tempore of the Senate, the
majority leader and minority leader of the Senate, and the
majority leader and minority leader of the House of
Representatives, the annual rate of pay shall be equivalent to
the greater of $236,900 or the annual rate of pay for a circuit
judge of the United States.
``(3) For any other Member of Congress, including a
Delegate or Resident Commissioner to the Congress, the annual
rate of pay shall be equivalent to the greater of $223,400 or
the annual rate of pay for a district judge of the United
States.''.
(b) Effective Date.--The amendment made by subsection (a) shall
apply with respect to pay periods occurring after the date of the
regularly scheduled general election for Federal office held in
November 2024.
