A BILL
To amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to make certain
activities for the removal of plastic waste and post-consumer materials
from wastewater eligible for assistance under the State water pollution
control revolving funds, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Reducing Plastics in Wastewater
Act''.
SEC. 2. REMOVAL OF PLASTIC WASTE AND POST-CONSUMER MATERIALS.
(a) Projects and Activities Eligible for Assistance.--Section
603(c) of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (33 U.S.C. 1383(c))
is amended--
(1) in paragraph (11)(B), by striking ``; and'' and
inserting a semicolon;
(2) in paragraph (12)(B), by striking the period at the end
and inserting ``; and''; and
(3) by adding at the end the following:
``(13) for the construction of improvements to treatment
works owned and operated by a municipality to reduce and remove
plastic waste and post-consumer materials, including
microplastics and microfibers, from wastewater.''.
(b) Additional Subsidization.--Section 603(i)(1) of the Federal
Water Pollution Control Act (33 U.S.C. 1383(i)(1)) is amended--
(1) in subparagraph (A)(ii)(III), by striking ``; or'' and
inserting a semicolon;
(2) in subparagraph (B)(iv), by striking the period at the
end and inserting ``; or''; and
(3) by adding at the end the following:
``(C) for an activity described in subsection
(c)(13).''.
