A BILL
To amend title 23, United States Code, to encourage affordable and
accessible classroom-based driving instruction and behind-the-wheel
training in highway safety programs, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Developing Robust Investments in
Vehicle Education for Roadway Safety Act'' or the ``DRIVERS Act''.
SEC. 2. HIGHWAY SAFETY PROGRAMS.
Section 402(m)(2)(B)(x) of title 23, United States Code, is
amended--
(1) by striking ``improve teen knowledge about'';
(2) in subclause (I)--
(A) by inserting ``improve teen knowledge about''
before ``safe driving''; and
(B) by striking ``and'' at the end;
(3) in subclause (II)--
(A) by inserting ``prepare teens for'' before
``State graduated driving'';
(B) by inserting ``classroom-based driving
instruction and'' before ``behind-the-wheel''; and
(C) by striking the period at the end and inserting
``; and''; and
(4) by adding at the end the following:
``(III) provide programming for
which affordability and accessibility
are considered in its
implementation.''.
