Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that continuous
parental engagement in the schooling decisions impacting their children
is to be commended, supported, and encouraged, and that current efforts
to exclude parents or even label them as domestic terrorists should be
condemned.

Pennsylvania, Mr. Perry, Mrs. Spartz, Mr. Budd, Mr. Brooks, Mr. Guest,
Mr. Mullin, Mr. Calvert, Mr. Aderholt, Mr. Cline, Mr. Weber of Texas,
and Mrs. Steel) submitted the following resolution; which was referred
to the Committee on Education and Labor, and in addition to the
Committee on the Judiciary, for a period to be subsequently determined
by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as
fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

RESOLUTION
Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that continuous
parental engagement in the schooling decisions impacting their children
is to be commended, supported, and encouraged, and that current efforts
to exclude parents or even label them as domestic terrorists should be
condemned.
Whereas parents and active, involved members of our communities have a First
Amendment right to express their personal opinions on schooling
decisions;
Whereas parents should be empowered to directly communicate with Federal, State,
and local education professionals regarding decisions that directly
shape and determine their children's education, development, health, and
well-being;
Whereas open and cooperative relationships between parents and schools have
significant and long-lasting positive effects on the academic and
socioemotional development of children;
Whereas parents' concerns over inappropriate or unwanted materials deserves to
be expressed and should be fully considered by school professionals;
Whereas parents are joining together to form grassroots organizations and
community coalitions to present concerns about numerous school policies
and practices;
Whereas parents are now collectively and constructively voicing deeply held and
valid concerns about divisive educational decisions with which they
strongly disagree; and
Whereas community input that is presented in a lawful and appropriate manner
should always be received and not discouraged: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
(1) recognizes and appreciates the efforts of parents to
exercise their First Amendment freedoms, as well as their
inherent parental rights, to engage in the development and
implementation of the school environment, curriculum, health,
and well-being practices; and
(2) condemns any and all designations from educational
professionals or any level of government to label active,
involved, and concerned parents as ``domestic terrorists''.
