                    IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

                            November 2, 2021

 Mr. Schweikert (for himself and Mr. Gohmert) submitted the following
    resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

_______________________________________________________________________

                               RESOLUTION

    Rejecting any proposal or legislation to financially compensate
              individuals crossing our borders illegally.

Whereas the family separation policy described pursuant to Executive Order
        13824, entitled ``Affording Congress and Opportunity to Address Family
        Separation'', dated June 20, 2018, was ended;
Whereas the U.S. Border Patrol and the Office of Field Operations of the U.S.
        Customs and Border Protection have encountered 1.7 million migrants at
        the United States southern border in fiscal year 2021;
Whereas the Border Patrol apprehended 1.66 million immigrants at our southern
        border in fiscal year 2021;
Whereas this is the highest number of apprehensions ever recorded;
Whereas the record-high levels of illegal immigration have overwhelmed our
        borders and directly impacted border States; and
Whereas it is not the policy of the House of Representatives to financially
        compensate illegal immigrants for crossing the border: Now, therefore,
        be it
    Resolved, That the House of Representatives rejects any proposal or
legislation to financially compensate individuals crossing our borders
illegally.
