   To require the Healthy People Maternal, Infant, and Child Health 
 Workgroup and the Maternal Health Working Group to establish a formal 
coordinated approach for monitoring maternal health efforts across the 
                Department of Health and Human Services.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Improving Coordination for Healthy 
Moms Act''.

SEC. 2. COORDINATED MATERNAL HEALTH EFFORTS.

    The Healthy People Maternal, Infant, and Child Health Workgroup and 
the Maternal Health Working Group shall provide recommendations to the 
Secretary of Health and Human Services (referred to in this section as 
the ``Secretary'') for establishing a formal coordinated approach for 
monitoring maternal health efforts across the Department of Health and 
Human Services, including in rural and underserved areas, and the 
Secretary, not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this 
Act, shall establish such an approach. Such approach may include 
establishing a process for exchanging information and discussing 
relevant program efforts and outcomes across the agency, during regular 
standing meetings, on a routine basis.
