A BILL
To require inspectors general to offer a briefing of the contents of
each semiannual report to the appropriate committees or subcommittees
of Congress, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Secret Service Transparency and
Accountability Act''.
SEC. 2. AMENDMENTS TO THE INSPECTOR GENERAL ACT OF 1978.
The Inspector General Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C. App.) is amended--
(1) in section 5--
(A) by redesignating subsection (f) as subsection
(g); and
(B) by inserting after subsection (e) the
following:
``(f) Each Inspector General shall offer a briefing of the contents
of each semiannual report prepared under this section to the
appropriate committees or subcommittees of Congress with jurisdiction
over the Inspector General, or at the request of any Member, committee,
or subcommittee of Congress.'';
(2) in section 6(a)(1)(B), in the matter preceding clause
(i), by inserting ``including any provision of law that
restricts the release of records outside of a Federal agency,''
after ``other provision of law,''; and
(3) in section 8I(b), by inserting ``may not be delegated
and'' after ``paragraph (2)''.
