A BILL
To amend the Public Health Service Act to reauthorize the National
Neurological Conditions Surveillance System, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``National Neurological Conditions
Surveillance System Reauthorization Act of 2022''.
SEC. 2. REAUTHORIZATION OF NATIONAL NEUROLOGICAL CONDITIONS
SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM.
(a) Reports to Congress.--Subsection (i) of section 399S-1 of the
Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 280g-7a) is amended to read as
follows:
``(i) Implementation Report.--Not less than every 2 years after the
date of enactment of the National Neurological Conditions Surveillance
System Reauthorization Act of 2022, the Secretary shall submit to the
Congress a report concerning the implementation of this section. Each
such report shall include information on--
``(1) the development and maintenance of the National
Neurological Conditions Surveillance System;
``(2) the type of information collected by the surveillance
system;
``(3) the use and availability of such information,
including guidelines for such use;
``(4) the use and coordination of data sources that collect
or maintain information on neurological diseases; and
``(5) any upcoming expansions of the National Neurological
Conditions Surveillance System to collect information with
respect to additional neurological diseases.''.
(b) Authorization of Appropriations.--Section 399S-1(k) of the
Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 280g-7a(k)) is amended by striking
``$5,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2018 through 2022'' and inserting
``$10,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2023 and 2024, $15,000,000 for
fiscal year 2025, and $20,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2026 and
2027''.
