A BILL
To amend the Older Americans Act of 1965 to require the Assistant
Secretary for Aging to make available to States, area agencies on
aging, and service providers information and technical assistance to
support the provision of evidence-informed practices that are likely to
improve health outcomes, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Evidence-Informed Health Promotion
Act''.
SEC. 2. EVIDENCE-INFORMED HEALTH PROMOTION.
(a) Functions of Assistant Secretary.--Section 202 of the Older
Americans Act of 1965 (42 U.S.C. 3012) is amended--
(1) in subsection (a)(28)--
(A) by inserting ``or, as applicable and
appropriate, evidence-informed practices that are
likely to improve health outcomes,'' after
``services,''; and
(B) by inserting ``and practices'' after ``such
services''; and
(2) in subsection (b)(9)(B)--
(A) by inserting ``or, as applicable and
appropriate, evidence-informed practices that are
likely to improve health outcomes,'' after ``services
programs,''; and
(B) by inserting ``and practices'' after ``such
services''.
(b) Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Services.--Section
361(a) of the Older Americans Act of 1965 (42 U.S.C. 3030m(a)) is
amended--
(1) in the first sentence, by inserting ``, or, as
applicable and appropriate, evidence-informed practices that
are likely to improve health outcomes,'' before ``and
information''; and
(2) in the second sentence, by inserting ``, and, as
applicable and appropriate, evidence-informed practices that
are likely to improve health outcomes,'' before ``in different
settings''.
(c) Falls Prevention and Chronic Disease Self-Management
Education.--Section 411(a) of the Older Americans Act of 1965 (42
U.S.C. 3032(a)) is amended--
(1) in paragraph (15), by inserting ``or evidence-
informed'' after ``evidence based''; and
(2) in paragraph (16), by inserting ``or evidence-
informed'' after ``evidence based''.
