         which was referred to the Committee on Appropriations

                                 A BILL


 
  Making appropriations for the salaries and expenses of certain U.S. 
    Bureau of Prison employees working during a Federal Government 
                   shutdown, and for other purposes.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Keep our Correctional Officers Paid 
Act''.

SEC. 2. PAYMENT OF SALARIES OF CERTAIN BUREAU OF PRISONS EMPLOYEES 
              WORKING DURING A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN.

    Out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, there 
is appropriated such sums as are necessary to pay, during any period of 
a lapse in discretionary appropriations during any fiscal year 
beginning on or after the date of the enactment of this section, the 
salaries and expenses of any correctional staff of the Bureau of 
Prisons excepted from furlough during such lapse.
