                                 A BILL


 
 To amend the Public Health Service Act to strike the requirement that 
   the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention be 
      appointed by and with the advice and consent of the Senate.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. APPOINTMENT OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE 
              CONTROL AND PREVENTION.

    (a) In General.--Section 305(a) of the Public Health Service Act 
(42 U.S.C. 242c(a)) is amended by striking ``, by and with the advice 
and consent of the Senate''.
    (b) Conforming Changes.--Section 2101 of division FF of the 
Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 (Public Law 117-328) is amended--
            (1) by striking ``(a) In General.--Part A'' and inserting 
        ``Part A''; and
            (2) by striking subsection (b).
