following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Veterans'
Affairs

A BILL
To limit the flags that may be flown over a facility of the Department
of Veterans Affairs.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. LIMITATION OF FLAGS THAT MAY BE FLOWN OVER A FACILITY OF THE
DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS.
(a) Limitation.--The only flags that may be flown over a facility
of the Department of Veterans Affairs are the following:
(1) The flag of the United States.
(2) The flag of a State.
(3) The flag of an Indian Tribal government.
(4) The flag of the Department.
(5) The flag of an Armed Force.
(6) The POW/MIA flag.
(b) Definitions.--In this section:
(1) The term ``State'' means each of the several States,
the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands,
Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern
Mariana Islands.
(2) The term ``Indian Tribal government'' means the
governing body of any Indian or Alaska Native Tribe, band,
nation, pueblo, village, or community that the Secretary of the
Interior acknowledges to exist as an Indian Tribe under the
Federally Recognized Indian Tribe List Act of 1994 (25 U.S.C.
5130 et seq.).
