 introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on

                                 A BILL


 
 To amend the National Trails System Act to provide for a study of the 
                   Puerto Rico National Scenic Trail.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Puerto Rico National Scenic Trail 
Study Act''.

SEC. 2. PUERTO RICO NATIONAL SCENIC TRAIL STUDY.

    Section 5(c) of the National Trails System Act (16 U.S.C. 1244(c)) 
is amended by adding at the end the following:
            ``(50) Puerto rico national scenic trail.--The Puerto Rico 
        National Scenic Trail, a system of trails and potential trails 
        extending approximately 200 miles from the Cabezas de San Juan 
        Nature Reserve in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, to Morrillos Peninsula 
        in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, through El Yunque National Forest 
        and the Sierra de Luquillo mountains, the Sierra de Cayey and 
        the Cordillera Central mountain ranges, and the dry forests 
        along the southwestern coast of Puerto Rico.''.
