                                 A BILL


 
 To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to require adjustments to 
  the thrifty food plan to be budget-neutral, and for other purposes.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Thrifty Food Plan Accountability Act 
of 2023''.

SEC. 2. ADJUSTMENTS TO THE THRIFTY FOOD PLAN IN THE SUPPLEMENTAL 
              NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.

    Section 3(u) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (7 U.S.C. 
2012(u)) is amended in the matter preceding paragraph (1) by inserting 
after the second sentence the following: ``Each re-evaluation shall be 
budget-neutral and adjust the cost of the diet only in accordance with 
paragraphs (1) through (4), as applicable.''.
