Mr. Van Drew, and Mr. Lawler) introduced the following bill; which was
referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and in addition to the
Committees on Armed Services, the Judiciary, Homeland Security, and
Intelligence (Permanent Select), for a period to be subsequently
determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such
provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

A BILL
To require the heads of certain Federal agencies to report to Congress
ties of agency employees to Hamas or the display of support for Hamas,
and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Prevent Hamas Supporters in the U.S.
Government Act''.
SEC. 2. REPORTS ON FEDERAL AGENCY EMPLOYEE TIES TO PLO.
(a) Inspector General Reports.--Not later than 90 days after the
date of the enactment of this Act, the Inspector General of each
covered agency shall submit to Congress a report containing a list of
any employee of such covered agency who has financial, organizational,
or communication ties to Hamas and a detailed description of such ties.
(b) Comptroller General Report.--Not later than 180 days after the
date of the enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General of the
United States shall submit to Congress a report on the prevalence of
employees of covered agencies or each covered agency who have ties to
Hamas. Such report shall include the recommendations of the Comptroller
General, if any, regarding legislation to combat the hiring of
individuals who have ties to Hamas.
(c) Definitions.--In this Act--
(1) the term ``communication'' includes any posts by a
covered agency employee on social media in support of Hamas or
in support of actions taken by Hamas;
(2) the term ``covered agency'' means the Department of
State, the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland
Security, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Central
Intelligence Agency; and
(3) the term ``employee'' includes--
(A) any employee (as that term is defined in
section 2105 of title 5, United States Code); and
(B) any member of the Armed Forces (as that term is
defined in section 2101 of such title).
