A BILL
To amend the Consumer Credit Protection Act to permit the refusal of
credit to aliens who do not have lawful status in the United States,
and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Reinforcing Immigration Status for
Credit Knowledge Act'' or the ``RISK Act''.
SEC. 2. REFUSAL OF CREDIT TO ALIENS WITHOUT LAWFUL STATUS.
Section 701(b) of the Consumer Credit Protection Act (15 U.S.C.
1691(b)) is amended--
(1) in paragraph (4), by striking ``; or'' and inserting a
semicolon;
(2) in paragraph (5), by striking the period at the end and
inserting ``; or''; and
(3) by adding at the end the following:
``(6) to refuse to extend credit to an alien who does not
have lawful status in the United States under the immigration
laws (as such terms are defined in section 101 of the
Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101)).''.
