of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee

A BILL
To direct the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct a
study to assess the feasibility and financial effects of expanding
coverage under the Medicare program to items and services furnished in
the Philippines.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Philippine Medicare Portability
Study Act''.
SEC. 2. GAO STUDY AND REPORT.
Not later than the date that is 180 days after the date of the
enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General of the United States
shall submit to Congress a report on the feasibility and financial
effects of expanding coverage under the Medicare program under title
XVIII of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395 et seq.) to include
items and services furnished in the Philippines to individuals entitled
to benefits under part A of such title and enrolled under part B or
part C of such title. Such report shall include information on the
following:
(1) The estimated cost savings to the Medicare program that
would be realized during the period beginning January 1, 2025,
and ending December 31, 2034, through payment for such items
and services pursuant to such expansion of coverage, as
compared to the likely costs of payment for such items and
services within the United States during such period.
(2) A description of the legislative and administrative
changes to the Medicare program that would be required in order
for such expansion of coverage to be implemented.
