and Mr. Trone) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the
Committee on the Judiciary, and in addition to the Permanent Select
Committee on Intelligence, for a period to be subsequently determined
by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as
fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

A BILL
To amend the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 to include
counternarcotics in the definition of foreign intelligence.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Enhancing Intelligence Collection on
Foreign Drug Traffickers Act of 2024''.
SEC. 2. INCLUSION OF COUNTERNARCOTICS IN DEFINITION OF FOREIGN
INTELLIGENCE.
Section 101(e)(1) of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of
1978 (50 U.S.C. 1801) is amended--
(1) in subparagraph (B), by striking ``; or'' and inserting
a semicolon; and
(2) by adding at the end the following new subparagraph:
``(D) international production, distribution, or
financing of illicit synthetic drugs, opioids, cocaine,
or other drugs driving overdose deaths, or precursors
of any aforementioned; or''.
