Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. MILITARY MORTUARY SERVICES FOR CIVILIANS. (a) Military Mortuary Services.--Section 1486(a) of title 10, United States Code, is amended-- (1) by inserting ``or if the individual arranging for mortuary services and supplies for a decedent believes the local commercial mortuary services and supplies are undesirable,'' after ``prohibitive,''; (2) in paragraph (6), by striking ``this section'' and inserting ``paragraphs (1) through (5)''; and (3) by adding at the end the following: ``(7) Any person not otherwise covered by this section if a mortuary facility under the jurisdiction of the Secretary concerned has the capacity and personnel to provide such services and supplies.''. (b) Effective Date.--The amendments made by this section shall take effect on the date of the enactment of this Act and shall apply with respect to a death occurring on or after such date. <all>
