A BILL
To amend the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 to require that
safety data sheets be provided in English and Spanish.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Hazardous Workplace Accountability
Act of 2024''.
SEC. 2. LABEL AND WARNING LANGUAGES.
(a) In General.--Section 6(b)(7) of the Occupational Safety and
Health Act of 1970 (29 U.S.C. 655(b)(7)) is amended by inserting after
the first sentence the following: ``Such standard shall prescribe that
any safety data sheets required as part of a label or other form of
warning be produced in both English and Spanish by the chemical
manufacturer or importer and provided to employers, and that such
safety data sheets are made accessible to employees exposed to the
hazard.''.
(b) Application.--The amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply
to any rule promulgated or modified by the Secretary of Labor before,
on, or after the date of enactment of this Act pursuant to section 6(b)
of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (29 U.S.C. 655(b))
beginning on the date that is 60 days after the date of enactment of
this Act.
