A BILL
To amend title 13, United States Code, to provide that response to the
American Community Survey shall be voluntary, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``American Community Survey Choice
Act'' or the ``ACS Choice Act''.
SEC. 2. VOLUNTARY RESPONSE TO AMERICAN COMMUNITY SURVEY.
Section 221 of title 13, United States Code, is amended by adding
at the end the following:
``(d) The penalty under subsection (a) shall not apply to any
individual who refuses or willfully neglects to answer or otherwise
respond to any question in the survey conducted by the Secretary of
Commerce commonly referred to as the `American Community Survey' (or
any successor survey).''.
