A BILL
To direct the Secretary of Defense to establish a Connected Vehicle
Cybersecurity Center in the Department of Defense, and for other
purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. ESTABLISHMENT OF CONNECTED VEHICLE CYBERSECURITY CENTER IN
DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE.
(a) Establishment.--The Secretary of Defense shall establish a
Connected Vehicle Cybersecurity Center in the Department of Defense.
Such Center shall be designed to enable cost savings and rapid
demonstrations by leveraging commercial investments in automotive cyber
security technology research, development, testing, and manufacturing
scale for passenger automobile, truck, and Department of Defense ground
combat and tactical vehicle applications.
(b) Annual Report.--The Secretary of Defense shall submit to
Congress an annual report on the implementation of subsection (a),
which shall include progress milestones on the establishment of the
Center, research, development, testing, and evaluation projects, and
Federal agency use.
(c) Authorization of Appropriations.--There is authorized to be
appropriated to carry out this section $12,000,000.
