 To provide funding for skilled nursing facility and nursing facility 
  survey and certification activities under the Medicare and Medicaid 
                               programs.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Sustained Allocations For 
Evaluations and Reviews of Nursing Homes Act of 2024'' or the ``SAFER 
Nursing Homes Act of 2024''.

SEC. 2. PROVIDING FUNDING FOR SKILLED NURSING FACILITY AND NURSING 
              FACILITY SURVEY AND ACCREDITATION ACTIVITIES UNDER THE 
              MEDICARE AND MEDICAID PROGRAMS.

    There are appropriated, out of any monies in the Treasury not 
otherwise obligated, the following sums for purposes of carrying out 
surveys and certifications of skilled nursing facilities and nursing 
facilities under sections 1819(g) and 1919(g), respectively, of the 
Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395i-3(g); 1396r(g)):
            (1) For fiscal year 2025, $492,000,000.
            (2) For each subsequent fiscal year, such sums as the 
        Secretary of Health and Human Services determines necessary to 
        carry out such purposes.
