A BILL
To amend the Small Business Act to modify application deadlines and
communication requirements for certain disaster assistance, and for
other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. MODIFICATION TO APPLICATION DEADLINES AND COMMUNICATION
REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTAIN DISASTER ASSISTANCE.
Section 7(b) of the Small Business Act (15 U.S.C. 636(b)) is
amended--
(1) in paragraph (4)--
(A) by adding at the end the following new
subparagraphs:
``(C) Extension.--With respect to a deadline
established in subparagraph (A) for a major disaster,
the Administrator shall extend such deadline for a
period of 60 days.
``(D) Acceptance of applications.--The
Administrator may accept an application for disaster
relief relating to a major disaster under this
paragraph at any time if the applicant demonstrates
good cause for the late submission.
``(E) Public awareness.--The Administrator make
efforts in addition to those efforts required under
paragraph (5) to communicate to the public and to each
office of a Member of Congress that represents a
district in which a major disaster has occurred the
requirements relating to deadlines under subparagraphs
(C) and (D).''; and
(B) in subparagraph (B), in the matter preceding
clause (i), by striking ``and the Committee on Small
Business of the House of Representatives'' and
inserting ``, the Committee on Small Business of the
House of Representatives, and each office of a Member
of Congress that represents a district in which a major
disaster has occurred''; and
(2) in paragraph (5), in the matter preceding subparagraph
(A), by inserting ``and to communicate to each office of a
Member of Congress that represents a district in which a major
disaster has occurred,'' after ``web-based outlets,''.
