RESOLUTION
Opposing efforts to place one-sided pressure on Israel with respect to
Gaza.
Whereas, on October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists launched a massive, unprovoked war
on Israel by air, land, and sea, including firing thousands of rockets;
Whereas the Hamas October 7 attack resulted in the murder of over 1,200 innocent
people, the taking of over 250 innocent hostages, and widespread sexual
assault and torture, and the victims and hostages include United States
citizens;
Whereas Israel has a right to self-defense;
Whereas the State of Israel was founded on May 14, 1948, and recognized by the
United States as a State the same day;
Whereas Israel has been designated by the United States Government as a major
non-NATO ally;
Whereas, in 2014, Congress designated Israel as a ``major strategic partner'';
Whereas the United States and Israel have a close and robust bilateral
relationship marked by strong people-to-people ties and close
cooperation on a wide range of issues including defense, diplomacy,
energy, cybersecurity, agriculture, science, and space; and
Whereas, on April 4, 2024, a White House press release stated that President
Biden ``underscored that an immediate ceasefire is essential to
stabilize and improve the humanitarian situation and protect innocent
civilians'': Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
(1) stands with Israel as it defends itself against the
barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists;
(2) reaffirms Israel's right to self-defense; and
(3) opposes efforts to place one-sided pressure on Israel
with respect to Gaza, including calls for an immediate cease-
fire, such as the recent statement by President Biden and
United Nations Security Council Resolution 2728, which was
adopted due to the Biden administration's decision not to
exercise the United States veto.
