RESOLUTION
Expressing support for the designation of April 16, 2024, as ``FairTax
Day''.
Whereas the current United States tax code is over 7,000 pages;
Whereas Americans will spend over 6,000,000,000 hours working on filing their
taxes this year;
Whereas the FairTax would repeal the current tax code and replace it with a
single national consumption tax that is progrowth and allows Americans
to keep every cent of their hard-earned money;
Whereas the FairTax allows Americans to keep 100 percent of their hard-earned
paycheck and ends the Internal Revenue Service headache;
Whereas a family of four could spend $30,000 annually without paying a penny in
taxes;
Whereas, in addition to eliminating all personal and corporate income taxes, the
death tax, gift taxes, and the payroll tax, the FairTax would also
eliminate the need for the Internal Revenue Service; and
Whereas the FairTax is the only tax system that is simple, efficient, friendly
to economic growth, nondiscriminatory, unintrusive, and FAIR: Now,
therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives supports the
designation of ``FairTax Day''.
