RESOLUTION
Expressing condemnation of political violence and denouncing the
attempted assassination of Former President Donald J. Trump.
Whereas political violence undermines the democratic principles upon which our
nation is founded, threatening the safety and security of all citizens;
Whereas the recent attack on the former President of the United States is a
reprehensible act that violates the rule of law, a cornerstone of our
democracy;
Whereas such acts of violence serve to incite fear, division, and instability
within our society, detracting from constructive political discourse and
the pursuit of common goals;
Whereas it is the responsibility of all elected officials, political leaders,
and citizens to promote a culture of respect, tolerance, and nonviolence
in political engagements and public discourse;
Whereas the condemnation of political violence in all its forms is essential to
safeguarding the integrity of our democratic institutions and ensuring
the safety of public servants and private citizens alike;
Whereas the attack on the former President represents not only an attack on an
individual but also an assault on the democratic values that unite our
nation;
Whereas it is imperative that justice is pursued for those responsible for acts
of political violence, and that appropriate measures are taken to
prevent future occurrences; and
Whereas the strength of our democracy depends on our collective commitment to
resolving differences through peaceful means and upholding the rule of
law;
Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
(1) calls on United States Government officials and
politicians to--
(A) condemn the attempted assassination of former
President Donald J. Trump;
(2) condemn political violence in all its forms;
(3) recognize this attack as an assault not only on the
former President but also on our collective democracy; and
(4) recognize that all elected officials, political
leaders, and citizens--
(A) have the freedom for spirited debate and to
honorably and respectfully showcase differences in
opinion; and
(B) have the responsibility to always put country
over political affiliation and serve the people of the
United States.
