                               RESOLUTION

 Expressing the need of all Americans, even when they care most deeply
   or disagree most strongly, to settle their political differences
         without resorting to threats or violence of any kind.

Whereas, over the past decade, there has been a steady increase in political
        violence across the United States;
Whereas, on January 8, 2011, a domestic terrorist opened fire on then--
        Representative Gabby Giffords and killed 6 people and injured 12 others;
Whereas, on June 14, 2017, a domestic terrorist opened fire on Republican

Whereas former President Donald J. Trump said, ``In this moment, it is more
        important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as
        Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to
        Win''; and
Whereas the threat of potential spiraling violence after former President
        Trump's assassination attempt are a threat to United States ideals: Now,
        therefore, be it
    Resolved, That it is the sense of the House of Representatives to
