     Mr. Crawford (for himself, Mr. Weber of Texas, Mr. Higgins of 
Louisiana, Mr. Babin, Mr. Bacon, Mr. Stauber, Mr. Bucshon, Mr. Meuser, 
Ms. Stefanik, Mr. Bost, Mr. Norman, Mr. Webster of Florida, Mr. Lawler, 
 Mr. Kiley, Mr. D'Esposito, Ms. Letlow, Mr. Guest, and Mr. Thompson of 
Pennsylvania) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to 
                     the Committee on the Judiciary

                               RESOLUTION


 
  Expressing support for the designation of the week of May 7, 2023, 
   through May 13, 2023, as ``National Correctional Officers Week''.

Whereas the operation of correctional facilities represents a critical component 
        of the criminal justice system of the United States;
Whereas correctional officers play an important role in protecting the right of 
        the public to be safeguarded from criminal activity, as with law 
        enforcement officers;
Whereas correctional officers are responsible for the care, custody, and dignity 
        of the inmates charged to their care;
Whereas correctional officers work under demanding circumstances and face danger 
        and violence in their daily work lives; and
Whereas the first week of May is recognized as ``National Correctional Officers 
        Week'': Now, therefore, be it
    Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
            (1) supports the goals and ideals of ``National 
        Correctional Officers Week''; and
            (2) honors all correctional officers for their service to 
        their communities and States, and to the Nation.
