resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce

RESOLUTION
Expressing support for AM radios in automobiles.
Whereas 1 in 5 adults in the United States regularly relies on radio stations
for their local news, and nearly half of all adults in the United States
receive part of their news from radio;
Whereas AM radio stations reach a monthly audience of 82,000,000 Americans;
Whereas the Federal Emergency Management Agency utilizes AM radio to deliver
critical safety alerts to the public in areas with less reliable access
to cellular service and broadband internet;
Whereas AM radio is often the last line of communications and emergency
transmissions in rural and remote areas;
Whereas agricultural broadcasters often constitute a critical link in the value
chain between agricultural researchers, producers, and agribusiness;
Whereas AM radio provides real-time sports, news, weather updates, and public
broadcasts in a cost-free format to listeners across the country;
Whereas sports, news, weather, and commentary broadcasted over AM radio appeal
to a range of listener ages and demographics;
Whereas AM radio listening peaks during weekday commuting times; and
Whereas technology exists to improve AM radio reception in, and avoid
electromagnetic interference caused by, electric vehicles: Now,
therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives supports the continued
inclusion of AM radios in automobiles.
