Mr. James (for himself, Mrs. Dingell, Ms. Scholten, Mr. Huizenga, Ms.
Slotkin, Mr. Kildee, Mrs. McClain, Ms. Tlaib, Ms. Stevens, Mr.
Moolenaar, Mr. Thanedar, Mr. Walberg, and Mr. Bergman) submitted the
following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Education
and the Workforce

RESOLUTION
Congratulating the University of Michigan Wolverines on their
undefeated season and for winning the 2024 National Collegiate Athletic
Association Division I College Football Playoff National Championship
Game.
Whereas, on January 8, 2024, the University of Michigan Wolverines defeated the
University of Washington Huskies 34-13, to win the National Collegiate
Athletic Association Division I College Football Playoff (referred to in
this preamble as the ``CFP'') National Championship Game;
Whereas, on January 1, 2024, the Wolverines earned a berth in the 2024 National
Championship Game by outlasting top-ranked Alabama in a 27-20 overtime
thriller at the CFP Semifinal at the historic Rose Bowl in Pasadena,
California;
Whereas the Michigan Wolverines finished the 2024 season with a perfect record
of 15 victories and 0 losses;
Whereas the 2024 CFP National Championship Game victory represents the 12th
football national championship in school history;
Whereas the Wolverines previously won a total of 11 National Championships,
winning in 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904, 1918, 1923, 1932, 1933, 1947, 1948,
and 1997;
Whereas this season, Michigan captured its league-leading 45th Big Ten
Conference title, marking the first time in program history with three
consecutive Big Ten championships;
Whereas Michigan, led by its seniors, finished the 2024 season ranked first in
the polls for the first time since 1997;
Whereas Head Coach Jim Harbaugh and his coaching staff have instilled enthusiasm
unknown to mankind in the University of Michigan football team players
while leading Team 144 back atop the college football elite;
Whereas Michigan students, faculty, staff, alumni, and all fans of the
University of Michigan Wolverines are to be congratulated for their
sportsmanship, dedication, and support of their team; and
Whereas the University of Michigan victory in the 2024 CFP National Championship
Game was also a victory for the entire State of Michigan: Now,
therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
(1) congratulates the 2024 national champions, the
University of Michigan Wolverines, for their win in the 2024
National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I College
Football Playoff National Championship Game;
(2) recognizes the achievements of the players, coaches,
students, and support staff who were instrumental in the
University of Michigan Wolverines' victory;
(3) invites the University of Michigan football team to the
United States Capitol Building to be honored; and
(4) directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to
make available enrolled copies of this resolution to University
of Michigan President Santa J. Ono, Athletic Director Warde J.
Manuel, and Head Coach Jim Harbaugh for appropriate display.
