A BILL
To authorize the appropriation of funds to the National Institutes of
Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for
conducting or supporting research on barriers to gender-affirming care.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Gender-Affirming Care Access
Research for Equity Act'' or the ``Gender-Affirming CARE Act''.
SEC. 2. FUNDING FOR RESEARCH BY NIH AND CDC ON BARRIERS TO GENDER-
AFFIRMING CARE.
There is authorized to be appropriated to each of the National
Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
$25,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2024 through 2029 for the purpose
of conducting or supporting research on barriers to gender-affirming
care, and the impact of those barriers on health outcomes, under the
Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 201 et seq.). The amounts
authorized to be appropriated by the preceding sentence are in addition
to any other amounts authorized to be appropriated for such purpose.
