Mrs. Feinstein introduced the following bill; which was read twice and
referred to the Committee on Armed Services

A BILL
To require a report on Department of Defense security clearance process
updates, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. REPORT ON DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE SECURITY CLEARANCE PROCESS
UPDATES.
(a) Study Required.--No later than 180 days after the date of the
enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to
Congress a report on the status of the updates the Secretary is
carrying out to the security clearance process and the methods the
Secretary is pursuing to ensure the security clearance process of the
Department of Defense continues to protect national security.
(b) Contents.--The report submitted pursuant to subsection (a)
shall include the following:
(1) A review of the last 10 years of cases of those who
held security clearances granted by the Department that were
ultimately charged with terrorism, espionage, sabotage,
sedition, or other related crimes.
(2) A review of any existing internal processes applicable
to the suspension of security clearances for those individuals.
(3) Any policy that may address revocation of clearances of
individuals who are found to pose a threat to other members of
the Armed Forces or to national security after their clearance
process has been adjudicated.
(4) Recommendations on enhancing existing security review
processes and recommendations for future new processes to
address any gaps identified and lessons learned from the
review.
